Built from a Real
Classroom Need
Helping students hear, see, understand, and use words — one analysis at a time.
About Phonelo
Phonelo by Fran Academy was created from a real classroom need.
After more than 7 years of teaching experience, the educator behind Fran Academy wanted a simple phonics resource that could complement everyday literacy lessons and make word study clearer, faster, and more meaningful for students.
More Than One Angle
Phonelo helps learners explore words from more than one angle. Instead of only looking at how a word is spelled, it supports instruction around:
Word Dimension
Phonological Form
How a word sounds
Word Dimension
Orthographic Form
How a word is written and spelled
Word Dimension
Semantic Meaning
What the word means
Word Dimension
Morphological Structure
How prefixes, roots, base words, and suffixes work together
Word Dimension
Syntactic Use
How the word functions in a sentence
Word Dimension
Application
How the word can be used in real English
The goal is simple: help make words easier to hear, see, understand, and use.
Who Phonelo Supports
Whether it is being used during a phonics lesson, small group instruction, vocabulary practice, intervention, or learning at home, Phonelo is meant to be an easy tool that fits naturally into the way literacy is already being taught.
At Fran Academy, we believe students build stronger reading and language skills when they understand not just what a word is, but how it works.
Hear it. Break it.
Build it. Understand it.
